Hydrostatic Testing - Certified Gas Cylinder Pressure Testing

Hydrostatic testing is a mandatory process under Australian Standard AS 2030.1, required at least every 5 to 10 years (depending on cylinder type) to ensure gas cylinders can safely withstand pressure during service. Our certified testing service ensures every cylinder meets legal and operational safety requirements.

Purpose of Hydrostatic Testing

Hydro testing confirms the structural integrity of a cylinder by:

  • Checking for leaks, expansion, or permanent deformation under pressure
  • Identifying internal or external faults that may compromise safety
  • Certifying cylinders for continued use or identifying those unfit for service
Purpose of Hydrostatic Testing

Our Hydrostatic Testing Process Includes:

  1. Internal Inspection:
Before testing, cylinders are internally examined for signs of corrosion, damage, or contamination.
  2. Filling & Pressurisation:
Cylinders are filled with water and pressurised well beyond their working pressure using calibrated equipment.
  3. Measurement & Analysis:
We measure expansion under pressure and check for any signs of permanent deformation—critical indicators of failure.
  4. Drying & Post-Test Care:
Cylinders are fully dried using using a combination of steam and compressed air to prevent internal corrosion, then prepared for reassembly or painting.
  5. Stamping & Certification:
ylinders that pass are permanently stamped with a test date and issued a compliance record for traceability and audit purposes.
